" Very, very special, like a secret on vinyl." – Record Collector
"A quiet, shy and truly outstanding little gem " – Strange Fruit
"Acoustic beauty in the vein of Mazzy Star and Nick Drake" -
Record and CD Mart
"..more honesty than a world wide lie detector test" - Drownedinsound
After the first three
7" singles drew acclaim from all that ear-witnessed them, here we have the
Debut Album from Frankie Machine. Like a Badly Drawn Boy that you want to hug
or a non-posh Nick Drake with a dark sense of humour, it's a record made for
anyone who ever had a heart (and
subsequently had it broken).
Now completely sold out,
those three singles attracted the venerable ears of John Peel and many more
with their heavy pressings, coloured vinyl, and gorgeous sleeves. But we like
to think it was the gentle, touching tunes, frank honesty and understated
humour of the lyrics that captivated the hearts of the nation. The new album
continues in that vein and brings seventeen songs that gently fall into one
another, ripe with love and dark with pain.
The CD features a
mini-web site with multi-media video clips, photos and lyric sheets for those
with access to a computer. Be impressed...
Frankie Machine has
recently supported The Butterflies Of Love on tour, while his murky past in
bands included playing various instruments for White Town, Airport Girl,
Chemistry Experiment and Tompaulin. Find out more and get in touch...
